DAILY POST #50
Imaam Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalaani – rahimahullaah – said:
It is reported from Jubair Ibn Mut’am’- radiyallaahu anhu – who said: The Messenger of Allah – salallaahu alayhi wasallam – said: “The one who severs the ties of kinship will not enter jannah(paradise).”
Agreed upon( by Bukhaari and Muslim).
Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Bukhaari in “Adabul-Mufrad” #5984 and Imaam Muslim in his Sahih #2556.
This Hadith teaches us the following:
1. It indicates the gravity or heaviness of the sin committed by someone who severs the ties of kinship.
2. It shows the importance of maintaining the ties of kinship in Islam whether the kin is a kafir or a Muslim. And this is because the Messenger of Allah – salallaahu alayhi wasallam – said:” The one who severs the ties of kinship…..” the word “kin” here applies to both Muslim and Kaafir. However, we must realize that the case of a Kaafir Asly (kaafir right from start) is entirely different from that of a Murtad (apostate). That is because a Murtad is never recognized as anything in Islam until he repents and return to Islam or he is killed. This is the consensus of the Fuqahaa.
3.It does not mean here that he will not enter jannah(Paradise) forever, but if Allah wishes, he might forgive him as long as he does not inexcusably or unknowingly consider his action to be Halal.
4. It displays the importance of guiding others to the right path by not neglecting them.
Allaahu A’alam!
