#102. RULLING OF FIXING GOLDEN TOOTH FOR WOMEN DURING THE HAJJ
” Assalamun alaykum ya admin, pls is there anything wrong with doing gold teeth while on hajj?”
ANSWER
Wa alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh
Alhamdulillāh.
The action you described is not permissible in the way most women do it in this era of ours for the following reasons:
1. In it is Ar-Riyā which is an ostentatious display of being religious. Since it is in such a way that whosoever sees it recognizes that such and such a person has performed the Hajj. Can’t you see that the people who have it worn feel they must be treated differently in the mist of people? Merit in the sight of Allāh isn’t scaled by the Hajj but by the closeness one is to Allāh.
2. If in the process of doing it, there is a forcing of space between two tooth, this will then fall under the category of women upon whom the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – has cursed.
This is in the following Hadīth:
( لعن الله الواشمات والمستوشمات ، والنامصات والمتنمصات ، والمتفلجات للحسن ، المغيرات خلق الله)
“The curse of Allāh is upon the lady that tattoos and the one that seeks to be tattooed, the lady that takes off her facial hairs and the one that sought to get it taken off, and a lady that forces a window between her teeth, seeking beauty thereby, those who change the creation of Allāh.”
It is recorded by Imām Muslim from ‘Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud – radiyallāhu ‘anhu.
If however it can be said, that the act is devoid of any of these two factors, that it is merely for the purpose of halāl beautification for her husband, does not involve forcing out a window between the teeth, and does not involve Ar-Riyā, then it becomes permissible inshā Allāh. Except that it has been said that such beautification could be a source of Fitnah for other men if they see her. In that case, it wouldn’t be permissible for her to flash her teeth to other than her Mahram men or husband.
In summary, it is not advisable for any Muslimah who fears Allāh to engage in this act for the reasons that we have explained above even though her intentions are pure and does not involve the factors of Tahrīm that we have mentioned in the explanation above. This is because it is very difficult to protect men from falling fitnah to her if she does it.
Allāhu A’alam

Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
