#1045: On Eating Food Prepared In The Naming Ceremony Of A Christian
“I have a question… Is it allowed to eat food from the naming ceremony of a Christian neighbor”
ANSWER:
Alhamdulillah.
Know, may Allah bless you, that the default ruling for the food and Slaughter of the People of the Book: Jews and Christians is permissibility.
Exemption to this rule is that food which is Haraam in the Din or that which they slaughtered for their Religious Celebrations such as Christmas and Easter, etc.
The proof for this is what Allah said:
وَطَعَامُ الَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ الْكِتَابَ حِلٌّ لَّكُمْ
“And the food of those who were given the Book is permissible for you”
And Allah knows best.
