#105: Ruling on the Authenticity of the Hadith Al-Qudsi in which Allah says: Pride is my Cloak and Greatness is my Robe…….?
ASSALAMU ALAIKUM
ADMIN PLEASE IS THIS HADITH _AUTHENTIC? [Abu Dawud]_
_On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said: Pride is my cloak and greatness My robe, and he who competes with Me in respect of either of them I shall cast into Hell-fire. May Allah make it soft on us.

The hadith is reported by Abu Hurairah radiyallāhu who said_ The Messenger of Allāh sallallāhu alayhi wasallam said:
_”قال الله عز وجل: الكبرباء والعظمة إزاري، فمن نازعني واحد منهما، فذفته في النار”_
Allah Azzawajal says:
_”Pride is my cloak and greatness is My robe, whosoever competes with Me in respect to either of them, I will cast him into the Hell fire.”_
Transmitted and recorded by Imām Abu Dawud in his Sunan. Shaykh Al Albāni declared it as Sahih in ‘Sahihu Abi Dawud’#4090.
Imām Ibn Mājah rahimahullāhu also transmitted a hadith with similar meaning which is reported by Abu Hurairah radiyallāhu anhu. The hadith says:
_”Pride is My cloak and greatness is My robe, whosoever competes with Me in in respect to either of them, Jahannam will be his abode.”_
Shaykh Al Albāni declared it as Sahih in ‘Sahihu Ibn Mājah’#3383.
