#1059: About A Sister Planning To Get Married And A Soothsayer Reveal To Her Not To Continue With The Marriage
As-salam Alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh
Question
What should a lady who’s planning to get married and suddenly a soothsayer came to reveal to her that the person she’s about to get married to has anger issues and he’s yet to show it, that if care is not taken and she’s not patient enough with him, they’ll end up in divorce….
NB:- He was really emphasizing on PATIENCE
What should the lady in question do??
ANSWER:
Wa Alaykum Salam Warahmatullah Wabarakaatuh.
Alhamdulillah.
May Allah grant you Hidaayah, Tawfiq and Sadaad, amin.
It is not permissible for anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day to believe whatever a soothsayer says. This is not permissible.
In the Hadith the Rasul salallahu alayhi wasallam said:
من أتى عرافاً فصدقه بما يقول لم تقبل له صلاة أربعين يوماً
“Whomsoever visits a Soothsayer and then betruths him in whatever he says to him, his Salaat will not be accepted from him for forty days ”
This was recorded by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad.
In other Riwayaat, it is stated that he has thereby disbelieved in the Message of the Rasul salallahu alayhi wasallam.
If you say, but I did not visit him, he came to me. True, but as it is not permissible to pay them visit, it is not permissible to believe in whatever they say and to act on accordance with it.
The Most Gracious Allah said in Suratu An-Naml:
قُلْ لَا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ الْغَيْبَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُونَ
“Say: none of those who are in the Heavens and the Earth know the Unseen except Allah, and they have no idea when it is that they will be resurrected.”
Why then will you believe and act in accordance with what this soothsayer says?
Do not let your Din be snatched from beneath you overnight. Take heed with your Din and seek Allah’s help.
