#1067: On The Validity Of An Act Of Ibadah Done Outside Its Time Unknowingly
Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa raḥmatullāh wa barakātu. May Allāh increase you in beneficial knowledge.
The masjid closest to my home delays calling the adhān of Fajr for up to fifteen minutes after it is due. (I confirmed the right time with other masājid around). In fact, their first adhān coincides with the second Fajr adhān of other masājid sometimes. Then, their second adhān comes much later when others are praying or have prayed.
My question is… What happens to the fast and qiyām layl of the one who uses this very much delayed adhān to know when to end his night prayers or stop eating sahur when he fasts as this is what I used to do before I knew of this issue?
Jazākumullāhu khayran.
ANSWER:
Wa Alaykum Salam Warahmatullah Wabarakaatuh.
Barakallahu Fikum and may Allah grant you succor, understanding and support, amin.
Know, may Allah grant you a beneficial knowledge, that Allah does not hold a person accountable for that about which he has no knowledge provided there are justifiable reasons for his ignorance of that matter.
In the scenerio you depicted, apparently there is no blame on you or upon those who rely in ignorance upon the Adhaan of the Masjid in question provided this is based upon ignarance of the correct time and the error of the leadership of the Masjid, and Allah knows best.
What however should be put in mind is that what is required of you at this moment is to approach the leadership in the Masjid and draw their attention to this discrepancy since this error does not only affect you, it affects the entire Muslim Community around that Masjid.
If you have cautioned and corrected them and they persist, then try as much as you can to caution those around you who may He following in ignorance.
And Allah knows best.
Barakallahu Fikum
Jazakumullahu Khayran.
