Salllam alaikum warahmatulah Ya esteem Shiek, please is the Hadith that state: whosoever walks early to juma’ah prayers with his foot without engaging in idle talk will have a reward of one year fasting and night prayers Authentic? Jazakumullahu Khyran for your efforts in responding to our Questions, may ALLAH make your scale good deeds heavy
ANSWER:
Wa Alaykum Salam Warahmatullah Wabarakaatuh.
Alhamdulillah.
May Allah illumine my heart and yours and strenghten us upon His Din, Amin.
The Hadith to which you refer is that that was recorded from ‘Aws bn’ Aws Ath-Thaqafi radiyallahu anhu by Imam Ahmad, Abu Daawud, An-Nasa’i and Ibn Maajah. He said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: If anyone makes (his wife) wash and he washes himself on Friday, goes out early (for Friday prayer), attends the sermon from the beginning, walking, not riding, takes his seat near the imam, listens attentively, and does not indulge in idle talk, he will get the reward of a year’s fasting and praying at night for every step he takes.”
Concerning the authenticity of this Hadith, Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami rahimahullah considered it Sahih in Az-Zawaajir likewise Shaykh Muhammad Nasiruddin Al-Albaani rahimahullah in Sahih At-Tirnidhi.
And the meaning of the Hadith as was mentioned by Imam An-Nawawi rahimahullah where he said ‘Ghasala’ that’s the first washing, there are three interpretations:
The first is that he has intercourse with his wife thus he makes her to observe the Ghusl also. And this is the more acceptable interpretation.
The second interpretation is that he washes his head and his clothes.
The third interpretation is that he makes Wudhu.
And this Hadith clearly shows the greatness in the Reward of the deed of hastening to Jumuah on the Day of Juma’ah and paying attention to the Khutbah of the Imam.
We Ask Allah to not deny us this reward and to take us by our hands toward His obedience, amin.
Bārakallāhu Fīkum.
Jazākumullāhu khayran.
