Q&A (Fatwa)

#1160: Ruling on the Food served at Christians Naming Ceremonies

QUESTION:

“I have a question… Is it allowed to eat food from the naming ceremony of a Christian neighbor”

ANSWER:

Alhamdulillah.

There is nothing wrong with eating such food. This is because Allah has made their food Halaal for us.

As for the meat served in the ceremonies, if you know by way of certainty that it was not slaughtered in a way that is not permissible in the Shar’iah, or that they have called the name of other than Allah in its slaughtering, then it is not permissible to eat it and that you should avoid it is better, and Allah knows best.

Barakallahu fikum
Jazakumullahu Khayran.
