ANSWER:

Wa Alaykum Salam Warahmatullah Wabarakaatuh.

Alhamdulillah!

Beloved one, may Allāh Ta’ala illuminate your heart with the light of Imān, and may He reward you abundantly for your keen to know the purpose of your existence on earth, Āmīn.

Firstly, know that, this question of yours is a vital question that ought to be asked by everyone who wish to meet His lord in a good faith.

Also, knowing the purpose of our existence on earth and the main reason why we are created by Allāh Ta’ala gives one a wider scope on how one should lead his life on earth. In some years back, we were not on this earth. Surely, in some years coming, we will not be on this earth. Allāh created us for a goal not in vain, and we shall be called to account for our deeds.

He created man and things for certain wisdoms whether it’s known to us or not. And the commandments of the Dīn is generally built on this. For instance, Allāh made such a deed to be Haram because of its negative effect for man, and He made such and such deed Halal due to its benefits for man. Hence, our Dīn is generally built to bring that which is beneficial to us and pursue away that which harms us.

Also, Allāh Ta’ala who created us knows that which is best for us in this life and the next. And the heart can never attain tranquility except in the obedience and remembrance of His Maker.

Allāh Ta’ala placed our father, Ādam ‘alayhissalam on earth so that he may be a khalifah on earth enjoining the commandments of Allāh Ta’ala on earth and forbidding evils.

We were created by Allāh Ta’ala to worship Him on earth, for this world is not our final destination. Rather, our father, Ādam ‘alayhissalam and His wife were in paradise, and they were to dwell in it, eat from it plenteous food, but were forbidden from approaching a particular tree. But shaitān cause them to depart from that state by luring them to eat from that particular tree. Thus, they were both descended to this transitory home for trials so that the one who is best in deeds is known.

And Allāh Ta’ala said that He shall send down His guidance to man through His Messengers. Whoever follows the guidance, shall never grief in this life and the next and his final abode will be paradise which is the main home of our father, Ādam ‘alayhissalam. But those who disbelieve and reject the guidance, shall face a severe torment of grief and other punishment in this world and they shall stay in hell for eternity.

And this is the true battle between man and shaitān. Shaitān strive hard day and night using his allies and whisper to misguide people so that they may all dwell in Hell together, may Allāh Ta’ala protect us, Āmīn.

In addition, Knowing the main purpose for our existence on earth gives us a protection from the plots of shaitān and a general view of this transitory life. It makes you weigh things in its proper way, it makes you belittle that which the ignorant one considers essential such as the amusements of this worldly life.

It increases your determination towards your lord and makes you intelligent and you shall never be found amongst the confused one in this Dunya. That’s why the disbelievers are the most confused and foolish people on earth. They exhaust their energy in things which are of no benefits to them. They associate partners with Allāh whereas all affairs belong to Him and He is the creator of the universe.

The deeds of the disbelievers are as though the mirage in a desert, which the thirsty man sees to be water, until when he comes to it and finds it to be naughty, and there He finds Allāh after his death, so He pays back to him his reckoning in full, and Allāh never oppress his servants for the least.

Or their actions are as though ashes on which the wind blows hard on a stormy day, they shall not have power over anything out of which they have earned, and this is the greatest misguidance of the highest order.

So my beloved brother, this Dunya is a delusion in reality. It’s just a trespass to our permanent home which is either Hell or Jannah. Hence, we have about four stages. Firstly, our life in the womb, our life in this Dunya, the life in the grave and the last stage which is our permanent home.

Our deeds in this world determines our position in the grave and the next life. Beloved one, does it make sense for a servant to exhaust the little span of life in this world, say 80yrs, in the disobedience of His Lord and end up in hell for eternity? Off course it doesn’t sound well at all.

Therefore, the journey is not a joke, it’s full of thorns, trials and whispers by shaitān to make evil fair seeming to us and beautify its deceptions with false claims so that we may thread his path and preoccupy ourselves in the pursue of this worldly gains and overlook our final destination. For shaitān knows deeply that, in the total pursue of worldly gains without differentiating Haram from Halal, one looses his Dīn.

In Summary, oh beloved one, Allāh Ta’ala created you for a certain goal which is to worship Him alone without associating partner with Him. He loves You, that’s why He created you as human. For if He wishes, one would have been created as animal. He loves good for you. He wants you to be amongst the dwellers of Jannah. In this regard, He sent down His Messenger to you so that they may show you His guidance and the path which will lead you to Allāh and your permanent home which is Jannah.

Not only that, He also spelled out the path of shaitān and warned you against those path so that you shouldn’t fall amongst the prisoners of the shaitān.

Oh my beloved brother, understand this very well and deeply, and never be lured by those stupid people who are the agents of their master shaitān to deceive you that our existence has no meaning and we are just like animals, glory be to Allah and exalted be He in high exaltation about what they falsely claim.

Moreover, Know that, there is sweetness in the obedient of your lord. This sweetness can never be achieved in the total pursue of the worldly gains nor its amusements. Rather, it can only be attained through worshipping Allāh alone sincerely and without partnership, loving Him, purifying the heart from vices, and living for the sake of Allāh Ta’ala only.

There is nothing difficult in this Dīn of ours oh beloved one! It is the people of desires that make us think like that. And this is because the Dīn came to purify us from lowly characters like that of Animals to a lofty one like those of the angels, but the people of selfish desires dislike this.

Therefore, be sincere towards Allāh, you shall find sweetness in His obedience, and you will find good deeds beloved to you and bad deeds shall be made hated to you. And know that, for the fact that you are able to ask this question, is a sign that Allāh wants good for you. For many out there are ignorant about the purpose of their existence on earth and they never care to know.

After knowing the beauty of this Dīn which is Islām and it’s the only Dīn that’s considered in the sight of Allāh, then to practice the obligations is easy in shā Allāh.

Firstly, attach yourself to the circle of the righteous and the learned ones and beware of taking kuffar or the ignorant ones as mentors or friend. For the kuffar are the agents of shaitān. This is your first obligation oh my beloved brother.

Secondly, Check around you a sincere Muslim who follows the guidance of your beloved Messenger salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam and Allāh Ta’ala and emulate him in that regard.

By so doing, the obligations shall be made easy for you. And you shall come out from darkness to light, Allāh willing and you will really feel the impact on your soul and light of such guidance shall be seen on your face and attitude.

Lastly, may Allāh Ta’ala protect you, may He choose you amongst His beloved servant, may He safeguard you from the plots of shaitān and his allies, may He protect you from unlawful desires, Āmīn.

Bārakallāhu Fīkum.
Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
