#1179: Can Two or More People come together to Slaughter a Ram for Ud`hiyah
QUESTION:
Salaam Aleikum, honoured brother.
Please, is it permissible for two or more people to slaughter a ram for udhiyah? I only know of camel and cow. So, I have to consult u on the issue bcos I don’t have a conclusive answer to it. A’aanakumullaahu.
ANSWER:
Wa Alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.
Alhamdulillāh. It is not permissible to share in the slaughter of a ram as this has not been sanctioned by the Rasūl Salallāhu Alayhi Wasallam.
As it is known, ‘Ud’hiya is a form of ‘Ibādah and the default ruling for all forms of ‘Ibādah is that they are considered ‘Not Sanctioned’ until a Proof from the Qur’ān and Sunnah shows otherwise.
It is not the Command of the Rasūl that one or more persons may share in the Sacrifice of a single Ram except a man and his wife and children.
