#1186: Advice to the Man complaining about His Wife`s Use of Niqāb
1186. QUESTION:
ON A MAN COMPLAINING ABOUT HIS WIFE’S USE OF THE NIQĀB
“I like Niqab very much but my husband doesn’t like it that much his complaining. Assalamu alaykum. Please someone asked this question. I have been doing it for 4 years now, he was the one that bought it for me but now his complaining about it. I don’t know what to do”
ANSWER:
Wa Alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh

What we advise you to do in such situation is to advise him, exhort him and to remind him of the reasons for which he encouraged you to use it in the past and made sure he bought it for you. If you fail in that regard, there is no blame in getting others he respects such as his Teachers or Muslim Figures around you who understand and appreciate the Hijab to talk to him provided you know there is possibility he would listen to them and you do not fear any frictions would come in between you both if you involve them. And then, you need to exercise a lot of patience in getting him to be ok with the Niqāb.
Recall that he bought it for you. This means he appreciates it and wanted you to be a user of it. Rely on that show of love from him and sought to convince him.
May Allāh bless your Nikāh and grant you Tawfīq and Sadād.
