#125: Ruling on Family Planning

Wa alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh
Alhamdulillāh.
The answer depends on the kind of methods of family planning that the questioner seeks clarification for.
As for the _’Withdrawal Method’_ as it is called in some circles, then the majority of the Ulamā hold that it is disliked (Makrūh) and must be accompanied with the Wife’s consent as it reduces the pleasure she derives in the Intercourse.
Then generally other forms of Family Planning that involves permanent inhibition of pregnancy, or mutilation of body parts *are entirely Harām*.
As for those that are not permanent and do not involve mutilation, they are only permissible if there are legitimate and real Medical concerns that either puts the mother in danger or risks her health.
