#144: Advice on Getting Up for Salātul-Fajr
*Answer*
Wa alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh
We ask Allāh to save you from the problem referred to
Inability to rise up for Salāt As-Subh is a great calamity indeed. And Inability to rise up for Fajr can be of three kinds
1. That which happens once in a while.
2. That which happens very often but is caused by the kind of work that you are engaged in or its like
3.That which is very often without a reason.
For most of the Ulamā, the last case is the one into whose ears the Shaytān has urinated.
This is from the Hadīth that was recorded and transmitted by Imām Al-Bukhārī – rahimahullāh – where the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – was told of a man that remains asleep till morning and does not rise up for Fajr
: The Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – said about him:
: بَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ فِي أُذُنِهِ
_”The Shaytān has urinated into his ear”_ This is the Riwāyah (Narration) of ‘Abdullah
And in the Riwāyah of Jarīr Ibn ‘Abdillah, it is:
( _”…into his ears”_ ): Then in this case, the advice for such a person is to ensure that he never plays with his Adhkār before sleep
He should ensure to always sleep with his wudhū and on his right
Also, he should ensure that Sūratu Al-Baqarah is recited in his home once every three days if he isn’t able to do it’s recitation everyday
As for the second category, then he has to watch his work and ensure to plan well for it.
This is because of the Sahābah – radiyallāhu anhum – were those who would do very strenuous jobs but did not miss their Salāt
Some would spend the entire day cutting woods and selling them in the market, and then retire home at close to sunset
Some spent the day in the farm and returned home at sunset.
But they never missed their Salāt
But if you are not still able to plan for your Salāt, then our advice is that you abandon the job for another if there is an alternative. This is because you are not obliged to put your Dīn at detriment for the pluses of the Dunya
And if it is of the first category, then it is human and you would have to work more on your adhkār and ask Allāh for His assistance, support and succour.
May Allāh make us of His sincere Servants.
Bārakallāhu fīkum.
