#156: Ruling on the Permissibility of the Use of Niqāb
*QUESTION*
*IS IT OBLIGATORY UPON MUSLIM SISTERS TO USE THE NIQĀB?*
_” Asalam alaykum waramatullah wabarakatuh. please i wanted to know if is obligatory for every sisters to put on niqob”_
*ANSWER*
Wa alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh
Alhamdulillāh.
The Ulamā differed on the obligation of the Niqāb. While in practice throughout our history, the majority Muslim communities did not observe the Niqāb, the evidences of the Ulamā that held that it were Wājib and obligatory seems stronger to us.
On that basis, we advise that you struggle with your Īmān and work hard to be of that band of sisters that practice it.
May Allāh make it easy for Muslim Sisters, āmīn.
