#19. DOUBLE REWARDS FOR IBAADAH
” My question is can one have a double reward for an act of ibaadah”
ANSWER
Alhamdulillaah Wa As-Salaatu Wa As-Salaamu Ala a Rasulillaah
Yes it is possible that one is rewarded in multiples for good deeds or is punished in multiples for evil deeds.
In Suratu As-Saba’i, Allaah – ta’aala – said:
ﻭَﻣَﺎ ﺃَﻣْﻮَﺍﻟُﻜُﻢْ ﻭَﻟَﺎ ﺃَﻭْﻟَﺎﺩُﻛُﻢ ﺑِﺎﻟَّﺘِﻲ ﺗُﻘَﺮِّﺑُﻜُﻢْ ﻋِﻨﺪَﻧَﺎ ﺯُﻟْﻔَﻰٰ ﺇِﻟَّﺎ ﻣَﻦْ ﺁﻣَﻦَ ﻭَﻋَﻤِﻞَ ﺻَﺎﻟِﺤًﺎ ﻓَﺄُﻭﻟَٰﺌِﻚَ ﻟَﻬُﻢْ ﺟَﺰَﺍﺀُ ﺍﻟﻀِّﻌْﻒِ ﺑِﻤَﺎ ﻋَﻤِﻠُﻮﺍ ﻭَﻫُﻢْ ﻓِﻲ ﺍﻟْﻐُﺮُﻓَﺎﺕِ ﺁﻣِﻨُﻮﻥَ
“Neither your wealth nor your children brings you any closer to Allah to Allah but for the one who believes in Allaah and do good deeds. As for these, they shall have their rewards in manifolds and they shall be in the Rooms of Paradise in peace and security.”
As for evil deeds, Allah – ta’aala – told the wives of the Rasul – salallaahu alayhi wasallam:
( ﻳﺎ ﻧﺴﺎﺀ ﺍﻟﻨﺒﻲ ﻣﻦ ﻳﺄﺕ ﻣﻨﻜﻦ ﺑﻔﺎﺣﺸﺔ ﻣﺒﻴﻨﺔ ﻳﻀﺎﻋﻒ ﻟﻬﺎ ﺍﻟﻌﺬﺍﺏ ﺿﻌﻔﻴﻦ ﻭﻛﺎﻥ ﺫﻟﻚ ﻋﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻳﺴﻴﺮﺍ
“O wives of the Prophet, whosoever among you commits a clear fahshah, then her punishment will be made double. And that is easy for Allaah.” Suratul Ahzaab : 30
