#202: Ruling on a Woman covering her Hair while Reciting the Qur`an
QUESTION
ON A WOMAN COVERING HER HAIR WHILE RECITING THE QUR’ĀN
“Salaam alaykum, what’s the ruling on a female not using the hijab while reciting the Quran in her own room?…I meant, not* using hijab while reading the Quran for either tilawah or hifz”
ANSWER:
Alhamdulillaah!
During the course of one of our Halaqaat in the past, we mentioned the Aadaab of reciting and memorizing the Qur’an.
The Ulamaa mention that a woman should observe her Hijaab while reciting or memorizing due to the presence of the Angels of Mercy and tranquility that descend and seek forgiveness for the reciter while reciting.
Therefore, it is mustahabb and rewarding, and a way of showing adab and respect toward the Qur’an. It is not Haraam in itself not to do so but a makruh (dislike).
Allaahu A’alam!
