Question
As’Salaamu Alaikum ya Admin. May Allah reward you & your loved ones with good for all the good work you do. Ameen.
I have question please, and goes thus, when a person intentionally breaks his/her fast during the month of Ramadan for no reason, does he/she compensate with that one missed or has to fast for a month?
Jazakallahu Khairan
ANSWER
Wa alaikum salaam Wa Rahmatullah Wa barakatuh, the one that intentionally breaks his fast in the day time of Ramadan without any reason has fallen into a great evil for which kaffarah (fasting 60 days) cannot be used to correct. Thus, what such a person simply has to do is to sincerely continue seeking for the forgiveness for his sin and repay that days fast.
This is because kaffarah was only mentioned in the shariah for the one that had intercourse with his wife in the day time of Ramadan.
Secondly, among the wisdom of legislating kaffarah for the one that cohabit with his wife is to help him use it as an impediment and thus, restrain his urges.
However, the one that eats without any reason has displayed an act of abject disobedience and disregard towards the command of Allah. Thus, such a person can only correct his evil by humbling himself in sincere repentance after which he has to follow it up by an action of fasting the number of days in which he deliberately eat for no reason.
And Allah knows best.
