Question

Dose Riba have to do with monetary dealing alone?

ANSWER

Yes riba has to do with money and any other commodity that can be used to replace money. This is because of what umar Ibn Khattab radiallahu anhu narrated that the rasul alaihi salam said, silver for gold is riba, unless it is exchanged on the spot; wheat for wheat is riba, unless it is exchanged on the spot; barley for barley is riba, unless it is exchanged on the spot; dates for dates is riba, unless it is exchanged on the spot.
