#380: The Salāt of One Who Inadvertently Recited Fātiha on the Sitting Between the Two Sajdah
QUESTION
“Asalamualaikunm..
“I was praying dhur, at the sitting in between the first sajdah. I begin (mistakenly) to recite al faatiha…instead of the normal supplications, so i made ijtihaad and did ba’di..so what is it upon me and my solah”.
baarokallah feekunm.”
ANSWER
Wa alaykum salaam warahmatullāhi wabarakātuh.
Wa feekum bārakallāhu.
Alhamdulillāh!
To the best of our knowledge, while there are Ahaadith that mention categorically that we should not make recitation of verses of the Qur’an except during the standing, it is not anywhere authentically reported from the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – that reciting the faatihah between the two sujud nullifies the Salaat neither is it mentioned that such a Salaat should be compensated for by either observing the Qabli or the Ba’adi.
Though, it is the saying of some of the Ulamaa that an act of such dimension will necessitate a Ba’adi, there is nothing authentically reliant to suggest that.
Therefore, there is nothing wrong with your Salaat Insha Allāh.
Bārakallāhu Fīkum
Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
