#385: Shaving Hairs from Parts of the Body
QUESTION
” Is there any part of your body that you aren’t allowed to shave hair from”
ANSWER
Alhamdulillaah!
We are very sorry for not responding to your question early. It is largely due to not noticing it for a while. Baarakallaahu feekum.
There is no evidence in the Qur’an or the Sunnah to imply the forbiddance of taking out hairs from any parts of the body except for:
1. The eyebrows; and we have explained that in one of our Answers
2. Beards for men and not women
3. Hairs of the head for women unless to reduce it to the ‘wafrah’ (which is a quantity long enough to cover just the ear lobes. We have also explained this in a Fatwa earlier.
Aside these three, there is no evidence from either the Qur’an or the Hadith that implies the forbiddance of shaving any other part of the body.
For the fact that nothing regarding that has come in the texts, some Ulamaa hold that it is not permissible. But the Principles of Fiqh is against them. What is sound is that it remains permissible and left to the discretion of the person.
Allāhu A’alam
Bārakallāhu Fīkum
Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
