#388: The Neck of the Rasūl -Salallāhu Alayhi Wa Sallam
QUESTION
” Is it true that the prophet (SAW) had his head stuck to his neck that he couldn’t turn his head on less he turns his full body”
ANSWER
Alhamdulillāh!
It is reported in the Shamaa’il Al-Muhammadiyyah authored by Imaam At-Tirmidhi – rahimahullaah – that the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – used to turn his entire body towards a person whenever he turned his face.
This is part of his lofty characters that Muslims should emulate, and it should be known that turning only the face to a person might imply disregard and lack of respect.
It is not true that the head of the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – was stuck to his body. It is entirely wrong and unimaginable to describe him as such – salallāhu alayhi wasallam. Aside the fact that this is a deficiency were it to be true, the Ahaadith in which he physically turned his head during the taslim of the Salaat, during the Salaat for rain and during his Khutbah evidently shows the galaxy of this incredulous claim.
We ask you to advise whosoever said so or transmits such to desist accordingly.
Bārakallāhu Fīkum
Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
