ANSWER
Wa alaykum salaam warahmatullāhi wabarakātuh
Alhamdulillāh.
If your situation was that of forgetfulness, then we hope that that will not be a problem for you on the Day of Qiyaamah as long as you observed it immediately you remembered.
The reason for this is the Hadīth in which the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – said, as was recorded by both Imām Bukhaari and Imām Muslim:
ﻣﻦ ﻧﺴﻲ ﺻﻼﺓ ﻓﻠﻴﺼﻠﻬﺎ ﺇﺫﺍ ﺫﻛﺮﻫﺎ ﻻ ﻛﻔﺎﺭﺓ ﻟﻬﺎ ﺇﻻ ﺫﻟﻚ . ﻣﺘﻔﻖ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ
“Whosoever forgets to observe a particular Salaat, then let him observe it whenever he remembers it. There is no expiation for it aside that.”
That said, it remains to be said that we must all be careful to ensure that Iblis does not play with our brains and make us to play with our Salāt by deceiving us to postpone it or to be lazy over expiating for it before its time lapses.
We should all be mindful of what the Rasul – salallaahu alayhi wasallam – said:
ﺍﻟﻌﻬﺪ ﺍﻟﺬﻱ ﺑﻴﻨﻨﺎ ﻭﺑﻴﻨﻬﻢ ﺍﻟﺼﻼﺓ ﻓﻤﻦ ﺗﺮﻛﻬﺎ ﻓﻘﺪ ﻛﻔﺮ ”
( ﺭﻭﺍﻩ الترمذي )
“The Covenant that distinguishes us and them is the Salaat, whosoever abandons it apostates.”
Recorded by At-Tirmidhi
And only the Munaafiqun are lazy when the time for Salaat comes. They are lazy and reluctant to answer the call of the Mu’adhin.
O brother! Once you begin to feel traces of reluctance to observe Salāt at its appropriate time, then, you have attained some traces or all of the traces of Nifaaq (hypocrisy). We ask Allāh to save us from that.
Therefore, fear Allāh and be conscious of His punishments.
Bārakallāhu Fīkum
Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
