#415: Ruling on the Ma’mūn in the First Role of Salāt must wear Cap
QUESTION
I was opportune to pray jumat in one mosque at ikj,so wen d solat was abt to commence, the muazim said dat all d people without cap on shud go to d back n pple with cap shud be at d front or accordingly, pls my qustn is, is that part of the rules laid down by our Noble Prophet(S.A.W)?
ANSWER
Alhamdulillāh, True, it is the sun ah of the Rasūl – salallaahu alayhi wasallam – to always observe Salaah with the cap on his head, the Ulamaa of the madhaahib have explained that it is not a Waajib.
The Maliki position, and for many of the muhaddithin, on this is that whosoever does not use the cap is considered weak as a narrator of hadith. They considered it a Qad’h that warrants that his testimony be rejected.
However, there is no such class system in Islam where for the wearers of caps occupy certain positions and rows in the masjid. This is neither according to the sun ah nor according to the Istihsaanaat (Legal considerations) of the Fuqahaa.

Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
