#417: Ruling on Speaking to the Dead

QUESTION

” Salamun alaikum, brother I have a question whether it is permissible for someone to visit the deceased and be narrating things that are happening after his demise after praying for the person like “oh son the child you left behind has done so and so.. ” barakallahu feek wa jazakumullahu khairan”

ANSWER

Wa alaykum salām warahmatullāhi wabarakātuh!

Wa fīka bārakallāhu wa jazākumullāhu khayran

Alhamdulillāh.

That is certainly not the sunnah neither is it permissible as it seems to purport that the deceased in his grave hears, comprehends and answers to what is been said to it.

Allāhu A’alam

Bārakallāhu Fīkum
Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
