#530: Debating an Atheist

ANSWER
Wa alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.
As for debating an Atheist, then it is permissible as long as there is no reason to think that it will lead to a dishonouring of Allāh and Islām, and the Debater is Learned enough to wade off the doubts and misguidance of the Atheist.
As for how, then you may refer to the books:
A. Al-Jawābu As-Sahīh Liman Baddala Dīn Al-Masīh
B. Hidāyatu Al-Hiyārā
Not for their Subjects, because they debate Christians not Atheists, but for their methodologies.
And in the works, recordings and debates of Shaykh Ahmad Dīdāt and Shaykh Zākir Naik are also examples in this regard.
