QUESTION

“Asalamu alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuuh… How’s ibadah?… How’s business?… May Allah reward you abundantly for your efforts… Please I want to ask a question…Is it permissible to enhance the growth of beards with organic oils e.g Coconut oil, Castor oil etc… JzakaLlahu khayran wa Zadakallahu ilaman wa hirsan”

ANSWER

Wa alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.

Alhamdulillāh and Āmīn to your Du’ā.

This is permissible.

The Hanafī Imām Ibn Najīm – rahimahullāh – said:

“It is recommended to Oil the Moustache as long as he does not intend to grow it for beautification… And he should not do that for the Beards if it is up to the recommended Sunnah of it which is One full hand…”

This position is shared by the Mālikī School.

And Allāh knows best.
