” Assalamu alaykum. Pls am a person who can’t fast due to my condition. And I find it hard to see someone to feed due to where I live. What should I do in this case , should I give it to someone who already has smthg to eat? Like all this mai ruwa and Co”

“Assalamu akaykum. Pls I have an urgent question. Can someone pay fidya through this means? As in u send them money with the intention of feeding 30 people since one can’t fast”

ANSWER

Wa alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.

Alhamdulillāh.

We thank Allāh on your behalf for the determination you have showed in ensuring you make the feeding that is obligatory upon you by virtue of your inability to observe the fast.

If you are of those who are allowed to feed the Masākīn (Needy) or the Fuqarā (Poor) instead of the fast, then your feeding must go to either of the Masākīn or the Fuqarā only.

The Ulamā have agreed on this as was mentioned by Imām Ibn Qudāmah Al-Maqdisī in Al-Mughnī .

Though the Ulamā differed in their respective definitions of what the Faqīr and the Miskīn are and whether they differ one from another or are one and the same, what is apparent is that the feeding is for the one who is in immense need of food, drink, clothing and shelter.

The people mentioned in the first question do not meet this criteria as there are people who are far below that level in our society and it becomes obligatory to give preference to those who are most in need.

The feeding program organized by IslamNode is an opportunity to meet this demand Allāh willing. You should contact the Admin for more details on how you can meet this Obligation using this medium Allah willing.
