#59. REFERENCES FOR SOME PRAYERS

“Salaam alaikum ya akhi, kindly assist me with these, a bro sent these to me This morning. Am not able to look them up. Kindly assist by sending d verses to me so I can relate them to him.

Pls what chapter and verse of the Quran can I get this?

And this too: اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ، وَرَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، كُنْ لِي جَاراً مِنْ (اِسمُه) وَأَحْزَابِهِ مِنْ خَلاَئِقِكَ، أَن يَفْرُطَ عَلَيَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ أَوْ يَطْغَى، عَزَّ جَارُكَ وَجَلَّ ثَنَائُكَ، وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

And this: اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللَّهُ أَعَزُّ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ جَمِيعًا، اللَّهُ أَعَزُّ مِمَّا أَخَافُ وَ أَحْذَرُ، أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ الَّذِي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ، الْمُمْسِكِ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ أَنْ يَقَعْنَ عَلَى الأَرْضَ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِهِ، مِنْ شَرِّ عَبْدِكَ (اِسمُه)، وَجُنُودِهِ وَأَتْبَاعِهِ وَأَشْيَاعِهِ، مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالإِنْسِ، اللَّهُمَّ كُنُ لِي جَارًا مِنْ شَرِّهِمْ، جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُكَ وَعَزَّ جَارُكَ، وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ، وَلاَ إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ.

ANSWER

Wa alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

May Allah be with you and have mercy on you and the ummah as a whole Aameen.

However, all those azkar(Du’a) that were sent to you by a friend of yours are not verses of the Qur’an. Rather, they are all found in the books of Ahaadith.

Here are the narrators and the references of the Ahaadith:

1. It is reported from Abu Musa Al-Asha’ri radiyallaahu anhu who said_ The Messenger sallallaahu alayhi wasallam said:

When the Messenger sallallaahu alayhi wasallam feared a group of people he would say;

” اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَجْعَلُكَ فِي نُحُورِهِمْ وَنَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شُرُورِهِم.”

Meaning:

“O Allah, we make you our shield against them and refuge in you from their evils.”

Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Abu Dawud in his ‘Sunan’#1537, and Shaykh Al-Albani declared As sahih.

2. It is reported from Abdullah Ibn Mashu’d radiyallaahu anhu who said:

“ﺇﺫﺍ ﻛﺎﻥ ﻋﻠﻰ ﺃﺣﺪﻛﻢ ﺇﻣﺎﻡ ﻳﺨﺎﻑ ﺗﻐﻄﺮﺳﻪ، ﺃﻭ ﻇﻠﻤﻪ، ﻓﻠﻴقل:

” اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ السَّبْعِ، وَرَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، كُنْ لِي جَاراً مِنْ (اِسمُه) وَأَحْزَابِهِ مِنْ خَلاَئِقِكَ، أَن يَفْرُطَ عَلَيَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ أَوْ يَطْغَى، عَزَّ جَارُكَ وَجَلَّ ثَنَائُكَ، وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ”رواه إمام البخاري في الأدب المفرد برقم ٧٠٧ وصححه الأباني في صحح الأدب المفرد برقم ٥٤٨

Meaning:

“If anyone of you fears the oppression of a ruler, he should say;

” O Allah, Lord of the Seven heavens, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, be for me a support against (say the person’s name) and his helpers from among your creatures, lest any of them abuse me or do me wrong. Mighty is Your patronage and glorious are Your praises. There is none worthy of worship but You.”

Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Bukhaari in Al-Adabu Al-Mufrad#707. Shaykh Al-Albaani declared it as Sahih in ‘Sahihu Al-Adabu Al-Mufrad’#548.

3. It is reported from Abdullahi Ibn Abbas radiyallaahu anhumah, who said:

“ﺇﺫﺍ ﺃﺗﻴﺖ ﺳﻠﻄﺎﻧﺎ ﻣﻬﻴﺒﺎ، ﺗﺨﺎﻑ ﺃﻥ ﻳﺴﻄﻮ ﺑﻚ . ﻓﻘﻞ : ” ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺃﻛﺒﺮ . ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺃﻋﺰ ﻣﻦ ﺧﻠﻘﻪ ﺟﻤﻴﻌﺎ، ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﺃﻋﺰ ﻣﻤﺎ ﺃﺧﺎﻑ ﻭﺃﺣﺬﺭ، ﺃﻋﻮﺫ ﺑﺎﻟﻠﻪ ﺍﻟﺬﻱ ﻻ ﺇﻟﻪ ﺇﻻ ﻫﻮ، ﺍﻟﻤﻤﺴﻚ ﺍﻟﺴﻤﺎﻭﺍﺕ ﺍﻟﺴﺒﻊ ﺃﻥ ﻳﻘﻌﻦ ﻋﻠﻰ ﺍﻷﺭﺽ ﺇﻻ ﺑﺈﺫﻧﻪ؛ ﻣﻦ ﺷﺮ ﻋﺒﺪﻙ ﻓﻼﻥ، ﻭﺟﻨﻮﺩﻩ ﻭﺃﺗﺒﺎﻋﻪ ﻭﺃﺷﻴﺎﻋﻪ ﻣﻦ ﺍﻟﺠﻦ ﻭﺍﻹﻧﺲ . ﺍﻟﻠﻬﻢ ﻛﻦ ﻟﻲ ﺟﺎﺭﺍ ﻣﻦ ﺷﺮﻫﻢ، ﺟﻞ ﺛﻨﺎﺅﻙ، ﻭﻋﺰ ﺟﺎﺭﻙ، ﻭﺗﺒﺎﺭﻙ ﺍﺳﻤﻚ، ﻭﻻ ﺇﻟﻪ ﻏﻴﺮﻙ .” ﺛﻼﺙ ﻣﺮﺍﺕ .

Meaning:

“If one of you should fear the oppression of a tyrant ruler, he should therefore say;

” Allah is the Most Great, Mightier than all His Creation put together. He is Mightier than what I fear and dread. I seek refuge in Allah, Who there is none worthy of worship but Him. He is the One Who holds the Seven heavens from falling upon the earth except by His command. (I seek refuge in You Allah) from the evil of Your slave (say the person’s name), and his helpers, his followers and hiss supporters from among the jinn and mankind. O Allah, be my support against their evil. Glorious are Your praises and mighty is Your patronage. Blessed is Your Name, there is no true God but You. (Three times).

Transmitted and recorded by Imaam Bukhaari in Al-Adabu Al-Mufrad#708. Shaykh Al-Albaani declared it as Sahih in Sahihu Al-Adabu Al-Mufrad#549.
