#608: Is it right to claim that the Rasūl – Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam is alive in the Grave raying for his Ummah?
QUESTION
” *Assalamualykum* *QUESTION* What will u say about a person who say prophet (saw) is alive in the grave, praying for his ummah and conversant with the affairs of the ummah…Is this right?”
ANSWER
Wa alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.
Alhamdulillāh!
That to which you have referred is a weak position to which inclined some of the ‘Ulamā as was referred by Al-Hāfidh Al-Mundhirī – rahimahullāh. This is very weak as stated because there is no string of sound proof to prove this claim.
Though the ‘Ulamā agree that the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – is alive in his grave due to the numerous Ahādith that show that the Prophets are alive and do not decay in their graves, and that the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – responds to the Salāt if it is said to him – salallāhu alayhi wasallam. But they also agree that his life in the grave is not at all the same with his life before death.
For this reason, it is not right to conclude that he is in a particular position or doing a particular thing in the grave unless there is proof to support such claim.
This that we have mentioned is said by the Imām Shamsu Al-Haqq Al-‘Adhīm ‘Abādī – rahimahullāh – in Awnu Al-Ma’abūd
