#617: Ruling on the One who denies the Text of the Qurʿān and Sunnah
QUESTION
” Assalamu alaikum …Pls wats, d, Arabic terminology for the one, who denies islamic text(quran and sunnah) and, some one who made halal haram or vise vasa”
ANSWER
Wa alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.
Alhamdulillāh.
Of the conditions of Lā Ilāha Ilallāh as mentioned by the Imām Hāfidh Al-Hakamī – rahimahullāh – in Sullamu Al-Wusūl are:
وبشروط سبعة قد قيدت;
وفي نصوص الوحي حقا وردت
فإنه لم ينتفع قائلها
بالنطق إلا حيث يستكملها
“And with seven conditions it has been restricted
And of a surety these have come in the Texts of the Revelation
“For its Sayer benefits not;
From merely its saying, unless he perfect them
Then he said:
والعلم واليقين والقبول والانقياد فادر ما أقول
والصدق والإخلاص والمحبه
وفقك الله لما أحبه
“Knowledge, Certainty, Acceptance
Submission, – comprehend what I say-
Truthfulness, Sincerity and Love, may Allāh guide you to what He loves”
Then he mentioned in the Ma’ārij that what is meant by acceptance is to accept the implications of this Kalimah (the testification to the Tawhid of Allāh and the Message of the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam). Of this is an acceptance of the Texts (the Qur’ān and the Authentic Sunnah)
Whomsoever fails to accept the texts, knowing that it is the text from Allāh and/or His Messenger, and denies them or rejects them, or belies them has apostated from the Dīn of Islām and has no more Dīn. He is Kafir by so doing, and we seek Allah’s refuge from that.
As for the one who declares what is Halāl Harām or vice versa, then this act leads to Kufr if he knows that his declaration flips the Command of Allāh, but is not Kufr in itself unless he believes and so uphold his declaration to be true in negation of Allah’s ruling, or legislates and promulgate it as a law that is followed by a people or in a land.
Allah – ta’ālā – said in Surah Yūnus:
قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ مِنْ رِزْقٍ فَجَعَلْتُمْ مِنْهُ حَرَامًا وَحَلاَلاً قُلْ آللهُ أَذِنَ لَكُمْ أَمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ تَفْتَرُونَ
“Say: do not you see that which Allāh sent down to you of sustenance, and then you declare of it by your own selves that which is Harām and which is Halāl? Say: Was it Allāh that legislated that for you? Or upon Allāh you fabricate?”
And for this reason, the one who follows the one who legislates contrary to the Ruling of Allāh is said to be rendering worship to that person.
Imām Abū Muhammad Ibn Hazm Al-Andalusī – rahimahullāh – mentioned in Al-Ih’kām:
“And to follow other than the Prophet – salallāhu alayhi wasallam – in making a thing Halāl and making a thing Harām is ‘Ibādah”
From that we seek refuge.
Bārakallāhu fīkum.
