#666: Ruling on Closing Sittings with the verses: Subhana Rabbika Rabbi Al-‘Izzati ‘Amma Yasifūn
QUESTION:
Is it part of sunnah to end one discussion with the above adhkar as it is popular here in Africa?”
ANSWER:
Alhamdulillāh
No, this is not Sunnah as it is not Authentically reported from the Rasūl – salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam.
As for the Hadīth recorded by Imām Ibn Abī Hātim in At-Tafsīr from Yūnus Ibn Abī Is’hāq from Ash-Sha’abī as a Mursal that the Rasūl – salallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam – said:
“Whomsoever delights that he should earn a very full measure of reward on the Day of Qiyāmah, then let him say at the end when he intends to rise from his Sitting: Subhāna Rabbika Rabbil ‘Izzati ‘Ammā Yasifūn Wa Salāmun ‘Alā Al-Mursalīn Wa Alhamdulillāh Rabbi Al-‘Ālamīn”
Shaykh Muhammad Nāsiruddīn Al-Albānī rahimahullāh declared it very weak in As-Silsilatu Ad-Da’īfah
And Allāh knows best
