#670: The Asʿhābu al-Aykah
QUESTION:
“Is there differences between the people of thamud and people of Aykaa?”
ANSWER
Alhamdulillāh.
Know, may Allāh illumine your heart, that Allāh mentioned in the Qur’ān:
وإلى مدين أخاهم شعيبا
“And to Madyan We sent their Brother…”
This was mentioned in three different Chapters: Al-A’araf, Hūd and ‘Ankabūt.
Likewise, in Sūratu Ash-Shu’arā He said:
كذب أصحاب لئيكة المرسلين
إذ قال لهم شعيب ألا تتقون
“The People of Ayka belied the Messengers. When Shu’ayb told them ‘Won’t you be conscious (of your Lord)?'”
The Usūlī Imām and Master of the Islamic Sciences Muhammad Al-Amīn bn Muhammad Al-Mukhtār Ash-Shanqītī – rahimahullāh – said in his Tafsīr Adwā’u Al-Bayān while explaining this verse:
“The Majority of the People of Knowledge have said: The As’hābu Al-Ayka are Madyan. Ibn Kathīr said: This position is sound. And based upon this, this implies that this verse is made clearer by the verses in which the Story of Shu’ayb and his encounter with Madyan was mentioned…”
And Allāh knows best.
Bārakallāhu Fīkum.
Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
