#707: Is the Blood that follows Miscarriage regarded as Nifās
QUESTION:
“Asalamualaikum. Can some one pray after having miscarriage and still bleeding and is up to fifteen days now. Urgent answer please”
ANSWER:
Wa Alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.
Alhamdulillāh!
It should be known that there are two possible scenerio.
First, that the miscarriage comes with the human-shaped foetus in such a way that there is arms, feet and head. That means that the baby is in an advanced stage. Then, the bleeding that follows this sort of miscarriage is regarded as Nifās and all the Ruling that abound Nifās abound to it.
Second, that the miscarriage happens before the organ formation of the baby. In this case, whatever blood comes with this is regarded as an ordinary bleeding and she will have to regard it as one of either her period, that is if it bears the signs of menstrual blood, or an excessive bleeding.
As for menstrual blood, then you know it’s ruling, and we have responded to the Isti’hādah (Excessive Bleeding) from women in Question 66, 310, 313 and 314.
And Allāh knows best
Bārakallāhu Fīkum
Jazakumullāhu Khayran.
