#768: Du`a for entering into a New Shop or Apartment
768 QUESTION
“Salamuni alaykum waramotulahi wabarakatuhu, Is there any special dua requested/need to done to newly rented apartment/shop”
ANSWER:
Wa Alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.
As for entrance into a new home or Shop, what is closest is the Hadīth in which the Rasūl -salallāhu alayhi wasallam – said:
من نزل منزلاً ثم قال: أعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من شر ما خلق، لم يضره شيء حتى يرتحل من منزله ذلك.
“Whosever enters a new abode and said: I seek refuge with the Perfect Names of Allāh from the evils of all He has created, he will not be harmed by anything until he leaves that abode of his.”
This Hadīth is recorded by Imām Muslim from Khawlah bint Hakīm
You may also recite Sūratu Al-Baqarah as was recorded by Imām Muslim that the Rasūl -salallāhu alayhi wasallam – said:
لا تجعلوا بيوتكم قبوراً، إن الشيطان ينفر من البيت الذي تقرأ فيه سورة البقرة.
“Do not make your homes be like Graves for indeed the Shaytān flees from a home in which Sūratu Al-Baqarah is recited”
