#785: Does the coming out of Bubbles through the Posterior invalidates the Wudhū?

785 QUESTION

“OK. When someone feels some disturbances in the buttock Like bubble. Just like the way it occurs in the stomach. Those it invalidate the wudoo? The disturbances occurs regularly… Most especially during solat… And one is so sure that it is not as if one has passed the wind…. Just some bubble…”

ANSWER:

Alhamdulillāh!

If what you felt is the escape of wind from your hind whether it is slight or much, it must be regarded as wind and must be taken as one of the nullifiers of Wudhū.

In the Hadīth recorded by both Imām Al-Bukhārī and Muslim from Abū Hurayrah – radiyallāhu ‘anhu – the Rasūl-salallāhu alayhi wasallam – said:

لا يقبل الله صلاة أحدكم إذا أحدث حتى يتوضأ

“Indeed Allāh does not accept the Salāt of anyone of you when Hadath has occurred from him until he observes the Wudhū”

The Ulamā are agreed that what is meant by Ihdāth or Hadath is the state of impurity that results from the exits that come from any of the two openings (the front which is the Private organ, and the posterior which is the anus).

Once that is established, it becomes apparent that if the bubbles to which you refer imply the escape of wind, no matter how small out of you, it makes your Wudhū invalid.

As for the Hadith of ‘Abdullah bn Zayd bn ‘Āsim Al-Māzinī – radiyallāhu ‘anhu – that the Rasūl -salallāhu alayhi wasallam – said about a person who is not sure of the exit of wind from his posterior:

لا ينصرف حتى يسمع صوتا أو يجد ريحا

“Let him not leave (his Salāt) until he hears the sound or perceives the odour”

Then know that this relates to the one who is confused and is not able to tell whether wind passed from him or not, and Allāh knows best

So what is inferred from it, as An-Nawawī mentioned in the Shar’h on Sahīh Muslim, is that no one who is observing the Salāt assume air has escaped from him and therefore leave his Salāt unless he is sure of the escape of it.

We are saying this because your statement ‘Bubble’ seem to us like you are sure it is the exit of very little bubbles of air. If this is the case, your Wudhū is invalidated.
