#920: On The Statement Of The Rasūl: “…Those Who Are Present Should Inform Those Who Are Absent Because Those Who Are Absent May Comprehend Better Than The Present Audience”
The prophet -Salallahu alayhi wasallam- said: Those who are present should inform those who are absent, because the informed one might comprehend it (the message) better than those [who were in the] present audience. I need detailed explanation on this please.
ANSWER:
Alhamdulillahi!
This Hadīth is reported from Abdurrahman bn Abī Bakrah who said: the Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam said:
“…It is incumbent upon those who are present to inform those who are absent because those who are absent might comprehend (what I have said) better than the present audience.”
Transmitted by Imām Al-Bukhārī#68.
It is also reported from “Zaid bin Thabit who said: I heard the Rasūl Salallāhu alayhi wasallam saying:
“May Allah gladden a man who hears a Hadith from us, so he memorizes it until he conveys it to someone else. Perhaps he carries Fiqh to one who is more understanding than him, and perhaps the one who carries the Fiqh is not a Faqih.”
Transmitted by Imām At-tirmidhī#2656 and Abū Dāwud#3660.
Meaning, it is possible that a person who receives a certain information directly might comprehend the message better than he who has heard it directly from its source.
It shows that is not a condition for the one who carries the message to be a Faqih.
Ibn Hajar Al-‘Asqalānī said:
And that comprehending the message is not a condition in conveying it, and it is probable that those who came after may possessed a deep Insight better than those before them but with little.

It indicates the merits of conveying beneficial knowledge to others.
It encourages deducing lessons from an information.
It shows the status and virtus of the Fuqaha and the Muhaddithīn.
