#51. DREAMING OF THE RASUL SALALLAAHU ALAYHI WASALLAM
” salam please is it possible for someone țo dream of the prophet Muhammad: (SAW)?
ANSWER
Wa alaykum salaam warahmatullaah wabarakaatuh
Alhamdulillaah!
Beloved one!
It is very possible and real to see the Rasul – salallaahu alayhi wasallam – in a dream, and it is praiseworthy. The Ulamaa count this as one of the signs and symbols of piety and righteousness.
This is because the Rasul – salallaahi alayhi wasallam – is reported to have said:
: من رآني في المنام فقد رآني، فإن الشيطان لا يتمثل بي
“Whosoever sees me in dreams has indeed seen me for indeed the Shaytaan does not take my form.”
In another wording of the same hadith, he says:
فقد رأى الحق
“He has indeed seen the Truth.”
The hadith is recorded in the Sahihayn.
For this reason, the Ulamaa hold that the one who sees the Rasul – salallaahu alayhi wasallam – in dreams in exactly the way he has been described by the Sahaabah in the books of Hadith – the Shamaa’il – have indeed seen him, and should share his dreams with interpreters of Dreams for guidance.
However, if one sees a person that doesn’t fit the description in the books of Hadith appearing as the Rasul – salallaahi alayhi wasallam – in the dreams, then he has seen iblis and not the Rasul – salallaahi alayhi wasallam.
We ask Allah for guidance and to make us among those that will be with the Rasul – salallaahu alayhi wasallam – in this dunya and in the next.
