Khayruddin Az-Zarkali rahimahullah said about him in Al-A’alaam:
“Ali bn Qaasim bn Yunush Al-Ishbili, Abu Al-Hasan Ibn Az-Zaqqaaq was a Master of the Arabic language and an origin of Ishbiliya. He migrated to the Euphrates peninsula and lived in Dimashq. He later passed away on his way to the Hijaaz. Of his writings are Mufradaatu Al-Qur’an and Shar’h Al-Jumal which is in 4 volumes…”
Of his most beautiful writings is his 260 lines of poetry, the Laamiyyah which deals with the Science of Qadaa (Jurisprudence, Justice and Administration) in accordance with the Maliki Fiqh.
Imam Ibn Zaqqaaq Al-Ishbili rahimahullah passed away 912 years after the Hijrah after leading a life that is laden with knowledge seeking and teaching it to others and thousands of students who took from his knowledge. Rahimahullah.
