#259: Ruling on a Man who denies His Wife Intercourse
QUESTION
_”Assalamu alaykum warohmotullahi wabarakatuh. If a wife calls her husband to bed and he refuses without any valid reason, will the angels also curse him until she forgives him? If he continues denying her that, what should she do?”_
*ANSWER*
Wa alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh
Alhamdulillāh.
Let it be known that the curse if Allāh been on a person who commits an act is only known by virtue of textual evidence in the Qur’ān or from the Hadīth.
It is not stated in any of the Hadīth that a man is cursed if he denies his wife inter course.
Rather what is known is that such an act from him is a sin and he by so doing is denying her of her fundamental rights as his wife.
It is also a basis for her to seek for divorce from him or from a Sharī’a court as the Fuqahā have agreed.
However it should be known that this differs and varies from one situation to another, from one person to another as all situations have their peculiarities and special situations.
It remains obligatory upon you to seek the advice of wise people whenever such matters arise. People who have Knowledge, wisdom and experience.
