#291: Ruling on a Revert refusing to Fast in Ramadhan
Question
Assalaamu ‘alaykum…. A brother accepted Islam in this month of ramadan and he did not fast some days for excuses such as tiredness, should I inform him of the consequences or I should just leave him since he is new to the deen?
ANSWER
Wa alaikum salaam Wa Rahmatullah Wa barakatuh, it is compulsory for you to inform him that this is not a valid excuse for not fasting in Islam and also inform him about the consequences of such in a very logical way.
If you fail to do that, then you will fall under the category of people that have concealed knowledge.
You have to understand that such knowledge is wajib to disseminate. It does not fall under the category of knowledge that can be reserved for the sake of not confusing people. Just as the rasul alaihi salam refused to rebuild the kaabah to its original structure but left it as it is today so as not to be a source of fitnah to the new Muslims in makkah.
And Allah knows best.
