ANSWER:
Wa Alaykum Salam Warahmatullah Wabarakaatuh
Alhamdulillah.
As for making Du’a with other language aside Arabic in Salaah, then know, may Allah illumine my heart and yours, that the Fuqahaa have differed with respect to that.
Of them are those that do not permit it entirely. This is said to be the official position in the Maliki Madh’hab according to Ibn ‘Aabidin rahimahullah.
Of them are those who hold that it is permissible without reservation. The official position of the Hanafi Madh’hab is that it was Makruh (Disliked).
And of them are those that hold that it is only permissible for the one who is not able to pronounce his Du’a in Arabic.
And the stronger position, and Allah knows best, is that mentioned by Shaykhu Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah in his book Iqtidaa Siraati Al-Mustaqim. There, he divided the Adhkaar and the Supplications into three.
The first is that which is a verse of the Qur’an. As for this, it is not permissible to translate them into other than the Arabic language and the one who does not have the ability to read it in the Arabic language should learn it. This is the position of the Majority of the Fuqahaa though there is a very narrow Hanafis position that allows this.
The Second is that which is a Waajib Adh’kaar such as the Takbir, Tahlil, etc. As for this, it is also the position of the majority that it be done only in Arabic since it was required of the Muslims to say it, then a person must learn it.
The third, is that which is a mere Du’a and a voluntary request from Allah. As for this the strong majority hold that it is permissible if the person in question is not able to say the Prayers in Arabic, then he may say it in any language that is comfortable to him.
And Allah knows best
We ask Allah to answer all our prayers and grant us all Tawfiq, amin.
Barakallahu Fikum
Jazakumullahu Khayran.
