#1129: On The Ruling Of Being Naked While Having A Bath
“My second question SIR. Is it true that u can’t be on total nakedness when bathing”
ANSWER:
Alhamdulillah.
The Fuqahaa of Islam, except for a very few who disagreed with them, are at a concensus that it is permissible for a person to be naked in places where it is necessary and required.
About this Imaam An-Nawawi rahimahullah said:
“And we have explained in the previous Chapter that it was permissible for a person to be naked if it is required when alone such as when having a bath, when passing urine or when meeting with one’s spouse, and its likes. So to be naked is permissible in all of these places. As for being naked in the presence of others, then this is Haraam… ”
This he mentioned in his Commentary on Sahih Muslim.
A similar statement was mentioned by Ash-Shawkaani in Naylu al-Awtaar.
It is also important to mention that though they all agreed on the permissibility of being naked in private if needed, they mentioned the preference of covering the nakedness even while alone and having ones bath.
We ask Allah for Tawfiq and Sadaad in all we do, amin.
