Q&A (Fatwa)

#923: Response To Jazakumullāhu Khayran

“Assalaamu alaykum.please what’s the best way to reply to jazākallahu khairan.”

ANSWER:

Wa Alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh

Alhandulillāh

As for the reply to the one who says Jazākallahu Khayran to you, there has not been any strict response to that recorded in the Books of Hadīth.

It is permissible to say Wa Iyyāk.

It is also permissible to say Jazakallahu Khayran too
Or Wa Anta Fajazakallahu Khayran.

Except that some of the Ulamā prefer the wording that was recorded from the Rasūl -salallāhu Alayhi Wasallam – which is Wa Antum Fajazakumullahu Khayran as was recorded by Ibn Hibbān in his Sahīh from Anas bn Mālik radiyallāhu ‘anhu.

And Allāh knows best.

Bārakallāhu Fīkum
