We are sorry for the delay in answering your question.
We have established in the answer we gave to the question on women working that any work in which women are required are best done by Muslim Women. We also established the conditions under which it is permissible for women to work.
Regarding to night shifts, it is not permissible for women unless if in the place of work is a mahram of hers – as all the Ulamaa agreed – or if there are as many women like her working in the hospital and any man as guide in such a way that there is security from fear, as the Malikis hold.
Even in such a situation, it is better to avoid such shifts due to its risks to the self and to the family.
