#399: Ruling on Praying in Jamāʿah

QUESTION

“I have a question. What is the ruling of praying in jamah e.g nasfat

Sallam walykun. I sight am example that like that of nasfat creating a day for people to gather together and start prayering in congress”

ANSWER

Wa alaykum salaam warahmatullaah wabarakaatuh.

Alhamdulillaah, there is nothing wrong in congregating together to make du’a as long as there is nothing haraam or innovative in such a gathering, there is no collective recitation or the use of musical instruments.
However, majority of the Ulamaa have mentioned that whenever such a gathering is made a tradition in such a way that it is taken as it it were an obligation, it becomes a bid’a.

To our best knowledge, these conditions are not entirely fulfilled in the gatherings obliged by the congregations of NasFat.

However, our duty is not to condemn them but to point out to them their errors and guide them to what is best.

Allāhu A’alam

Bārakallāhu Fīkum
Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
