401: Ruling on Mutilating Life Animals

QUESTION

“Admin Salamun alaikum please what is d ruling and implication of mutilating an animal just to make money with some part of its body.

Barakallahu feekum wa jazakumullahu khairan”

ANSWER

Wa alaykum salaam warahmatullaah wabarakaatuh.

Alhamdulillaah! To mutilate a life animal is haraam in Islam as long as the part of its body that was taken off will cause harm to the animal and leave it in pains.

It has come in the Hadith recorded by Imaam Al-Bukhaari – rahimahullaah – from Adiyy Ibn Thaabit – radiyallaahu an hu – that the Rasul – salallaahu alayhi wasallam – forbade us from robbery and mutilation.

Allāhu A’alam

Bārakallāhu Fīkum
Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
