#427: Addressing the Rasūl -Salallāhu Alayhi Wa Sallam in Second Person

QUESTION

” Na’am Admin, please is it permissible to say: “As-salatu wa sallam ALAYKA YA RASOOLALLAH!”???”

ANSWER

Alhamdulillaah!

It is permissible to do that when one visits the grave of the Rasūl – salallaahu alayhi wasallam – only. In other situations, it is totally impermissible because it gives the impression of his presence.

Exemption to this is in the Tashahhud where we say ‘Assalaamu alayka ayyuha an-nabiyy’, and in poetry where it is permissible to write or compose lines of discuss with the Rasūl – salallāhu alayhi wasallam.

Allāhu A’alam

Bārakallāhu Fīkum
Jazākumullāhu Khayran.
