Q&A (Fatwa)

#447: The Wudhū of the One who washes

QUESTION

” Salaam Alaikum. Hope you had a good night rest?
May Allah reward you for your hard work.
Please, I have a question.
If a person has wudu, and he washes his baby’s pooh, will the person have to perform wudu again?”

ANSWER

Wa alaykum salaam warahmatullāhi wabarakātuh

Alhamdulillāh! may Allah reward you abundantly, āmīn.

The Ulamā have formed a consensus upon the things that vitiate the Wudhu.

The touching of filth or Najis, whether that of an infant or a full-grown *is not one of them.*

Instead, it is obligatory upon you in such a situation to simply wash your hands off the filth you just described.
