#448; Ruling on delaying Salātu as-Subh within the Timeframe
QUESTION
“Assalamu alaykum
In my place there is a significant length of time between Fajr and the time the Masjid commences Salah. However, there is a shorter length of time between the end of Salah and d sunrise.
Does the recitation of the Quran before the Salah (well after Fajr) count under “inna qara’tal Quraan fil fajri kaana mashhooda…”
Is dua as-subah valid if done before Subhi within Fajr.
Jazakumullahu khayra”
ANSWER
Wa alaykum salaam warahmatullaah wabarakaatuh
Alhamdulillaah!
Yes, the recitation referred to also falls within the Aayah you have quoted, and it is:
وَقُرْآنَ الْفَجْرِ إِنَّ قُرْآنَ الْفَجْرِ كَانَ مَشْهُودًا. {الإسراء: 78
This is based on the verdict of the Ulamaa that hold that the verse refers generally to the recitation of the Qur’an made within the time of Fajr.
But what most of the Mufassirun explain is that it is relating to the recitation of the Qur’an made during the Salaat if Subh.
We however do not understand what you mean by *dua as-subah*.
Please send a private message shedding more light on it.
