#524: Advice to the Married Sister Who Loves another Man
QUESTION
“As salamu Alaykum. Ya Shaykh! A sister seek for my advice in respect to this issue! What does Islam say about a sister who is married but falling in love with another brother in her school. And she has informed the brother that she is in love with her! Note: She is married already. Maybe it’s due to too much free mixing. Jazakumullah khayran”
ANSWER
Wa ‘alaykum Salām Warahmatullāh Wabarakātuh.
Alhamdulillāh.
What is obligatory on such a sister is to keep away from that brother and to not go close to anything that will make such love grow stronger. This is because it is not permissible for her to nourish such kind of love in her heart whereas she was married to another man. She must break all ties to him and anything that makes her heart remember him.
The brother himself is advised to keep away as much as he can for in that is a protection from the Fitnah and whispers of Shaytan that may lead to great sins and regret in this world and the next.
As for the husband, he is advised to restrain her in the house for as long as he can and the situation permits. This is because in so doing is a protection for her from falling into the danger of Zinah, and a cure for her heart from the love that permeates her.
That said, we ask Allāh to distant from us, the whispers of the Shaytan and the dangers of breaking marriages as a result of such doings, āmīn.
